I went walking today and was people watching. I noticed that besides small children and infants, everyone had a cellphone. Texting was rampid. It didn't matter that the weather outside was wonderful, the texting seemed more important. Even boys, as young as 7 or 8yrs old were on their phone on the playground. Some were high up in the clubhouse and they were texting each other. What if one had lost his footing and had fallen? It seemed to me that those boys should have been enjoying the moment, not preoccupied with the phone. I think that texting and safety should begin at home, because even young children are doing it. They must be learning these habits from someone and I fear that these behaviors will only grow into bigger matters. What will happen when they learn how to drive? I think that's something we should address at an early age and instill safety for others, as well as for themselves.
Hi Marianna
ReplyDeleteI am with you on this texting issue. It has truly gotten out of hand. My granddaughter can't get any attention from her mom because she is texting all day, every day. So the baby never wants to go home because she has to compete with a cell phone. There is no text that is that serious; it makes me so angry.
Hello,
ReplyDeleteI don't know whatever happened to talking. Everyone I know would rather text, that call someone and I also noticied that our young children have a lingo of their own when it comes to texting. No one spells correctly anymore.
I agree. Too many kids are texting all the time. I only text if I have to. Too many are texting about things that are not important when they could be doing homework or something else.
