Enforcing the Law
I think that instead of making laws that can punish people for cursing in public, like in some states, texting while driving should be looked at. People seem to do it everyday without thinking. I was thinking that maybe stricter laws could be put into place and really enforced. I don;t feel that law enforcement takes this issue seriously. I know there are other crimes being commited every minute, but this one hits close to home for me. I wish there was a way of diabling the texting feature on phones while driving. I'm not saying you couldn't or shouldn't be able to call for assistance when neccessary, but not for nonsense texting. This really brings out the mom in me. Pls. keep our children safe.

Continuing With Rehab
My co-worker is in a rehab now. She has a long way to go. She's in a lot of pain, that she has to deal with everyday. She just started talking again, because she had a trach for a while. She's learning how to communicate and express her feelings. She has periods of anger because of her condition. She doesn't remember the accicent, thank goodness for that. She has to learn how to walk again. It upsets me to think that in one split second someone's life could change so much. Not only did her life change, but so did the driver that hit her. I wish people would think about putting that phone away while driving and texting after they get out of the car. I don't think people think this could happen in their lives, but it could. It could happen so fast and you can't take it back, so please think about if that text is important enough to you to take that chance.

Rehab
I wanted to share an event about a co-worker that was in a recent life-changing accident because someone decided to text while driving. The poor girl was just out one night walking her dog and was hit by a car. She was dragged several feet before the car stopped. The young man driving the car was not drunk or under the influence, he was texting and driving. He did not even notice that he hit her, until someone else saw him. She has a very long road ahead of her and we are all praying for her recovery. Yet another example
why you should not text and drive!

Too much texting
I know my first blog was exclusively talking about texting and driving, but I would like to extend my thoughts to texting and everyday living. I thought about this while I was shopping at the mall today. Everyone and I do mean EVERYONE had a cellphone in their hands. People were texting and talking, texting and shopping, texting and walking. A woman with a stroller wasn't paying attenetion while she was texting and walking and she bumped into another person. Luckily, no one was hurt. What was so important about that text, that she couldn't pay attention to her baby or where she was going. Again I say, safety first.

Summer Day
I was driving home today and the weather was beautiful. My windows were down and I couldn't help noticing how many people were looking down at their phones. I just wanted to say,"STOP!" and pay attention to the road.

I just set up my first blog ever. It was interesting going through the steps. This is all new to me.
My blog is about something very close to me. I really don't like seeing people texting while driving.
Safety should always be first. I guess that's the nurse in me. Loooking forward to blogging with all
of you.
